JULIET LAYTON

Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting. I hope this profile gives you a sense of who I am and how I work. If you have any questions, do get in touch. I offer a free 15-minute online introductory meeting so we can explore what you’re looking for and whether working together feels like a good fit.
I work with adults and couples, both in person at my Surbiton practice and online.

How Counselling Can Help
Life can feel overwhelming at times — whether you’re facing a specific crisis or simply carrying a quiet sense that something isn’t quite right. You may know exactly what you want to work on, or you may just feel stuck, lost, or dissatisfied.
With over 20 years’ experience, I have supported clients with:
• Anxiety and depression
• Relationship difficulties
• Affairs and post-affair repair
• Life transitions and identity changes
• The impact of childhood experiences
• Loss, self-esteem, and personal growth
Whatever brings you, we will work at your pace and focus on what feels most important to you.

How I Work
In our first few sessions, we will take time to understand what has brought you to counselling and why now. I will gently ask questions to help clarify:
• What feels difficult at the moment
• What you’ve already tried
• The kind of support and challenge that suits you
• What you hope will be different as a result of our work
We’ll explore your relationships, your history, your strengths, and the patterns that may be holding you back. Together, we’ll identify the resources you already have and build new ones where needed.
Ongoing sessions (usually weekly) provide a consistent and confidential space where you can reflect, gain insight, and begin to make meaningful changes. My aim is to help you develop greater self-understanding and self-compassion, strengthening your sense of self and capacity for healing.
Clients often describe my approach as warm, thoughtful, and steady. I offer a safe, respectful relationship in which you can explore openly and work towards the changes you want to make
